All over this country voters routinely kill laws that will inconvenience them in any way even though there may be long-term benefit. Especially in Red States.
“A one-cent raise in my water bill to get rid of the poison?? Screw you, Government! I’d rather die!”
But here in Portland, we just willingly added ten cents to every gallon of gasoline?? All for the sake of our roads…which, honestly, we shouldn’t have to do. But that bill passed?? What kind of crazy city do I live in?
Listen up, America: We may be crazy Bernie-loving weed-selling stripper-supporting criminals in your eyes, but we actually know something about the Greater Good and sometimes enduring short-term pain for long-term benefits. Is this really a ‘bubble’ you want to be outside of?
